Tru Oil Gun Stock Finish Guitar

Anyone finished a guitar with tru oil? Ok bagman, if you don't mind, can you please take the op's sequence and show where the 320 goes, and what's ok as is:

If there are little white streaks in the wax, then you've either got rough spots in the wood surface (unfilled wood pores) or just an excessive buildup of the wax on the surface that.

Tru oil gun stock finish guitar. It does come in a couple colors, but i just buy the clear (it looks amber straight out of the bottle). Unlike some other products, it’s not. After cure i wetsanded up to 1000 grit and polished with pumice and rottenstone.

On april 6, 2013 april 7, 2013 so i took an empty bottle and mixed about 90% tru oil and 9.9% mineral spirits with a few drops of japan drier. Applied a coat with fingers and let it dry for 24 hours. True oil will require a few coats over raw wood to give adequate protection.

This is where things can get made complicated but don’t need to be. Either would be fine under tru oil as long as you let it dry completely (i'd give it 24 hours after the last application before your first coat of tru oil). Headstock face, headstock back, hang the guitar on the hanger, do the neck, sides, then the back, then the front.

I went through a lot of grief discovering this the hard way. A bottle of truoil will do a bunch of guitars, unless you are putting on a finish deep enough to dive into. If you go with stain, it may or may not be compatible with tru oil.

Ive already done the final coating and ive done everything i want to it , but i just cant find any info on this particular subject. It was my third build. Last step was to finish seal it with a coat of watco's satin wax (the same as the birchwood casey gun stock wax).

Once you have it smooth don't touch it again as you will leave marks. Auto compounds can also be used during the polishing stage. If you apply to a perfectly slick surface, you actually increase the likelihood of finish failure.

Originally developed as a gunstock finish, it’s relative ease of application, decent durability, and grain enhancing properties, have won it a lot of favor among guitar finishers. I have found that i get the best results when iwipe a small amount over the whole guitar then.
